Peace & Plenty Community Food Outreach
Monday, June 12, 2017
During the summer months our Peace and Plenty Food Outreach has a need for more volunteers. The high school groups that provide much of our volunteer force are on break, so we are more dependent on church volunteers. It only takes an hour (usually less) to provide lunches to benefit children in need in Huntington. They also need more food in the summer as children are not receiving their school lunches. Please help any Monday–no need to sign up,
We make food every Monday night for our hungry neighbors, including children at the Tri Community Youth Agency Center and Manor Field Family Center in Huntington Station. Please join us.
We’re looking for volunteers who can help us send the Tri CYA trays of cooked food such as baked ziti, mac n cheese, rice and beans, chicken and rice, pasta with meatballs or meat sauce, etc. Most children at the Tri CYA receive free breakfast and lunch at school during the school year and rely on the Tri CYA for at least one nutritious meal. We try to support that effort with some substantial dishes, beyond sandwiches. Some of the food may also be sent to individuals unable to get out to food pantries and living with food scarcity.
If you would like to help please contact Anne Canadeo.
Donations are always welcome. At this time fresh fruit, mild cheese, lunch meat, and peanut butter and jelly are needed. Apples are in season!
If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.
